LifeVine Women
Who Are LifeVine Women?
Who are Women with Limited Family?
Today, approximately 20% of women are turning age 50 without children. These numbers are unprecedented in U.S. history. In fact that number has doubled over the last 25 years. Some women have arrived by choice, some by chance and some by happenstance. What are the reasons that so many women today are childless? How did they arrive?
Women of Infertility
Many women have traveled the road of infertility, some married and some not married. This road for most women is a road of great expense, both emotionally and financially.
It is for many a long road that has taken years if not decades of their life. Month after month of disappointment, frustration, and even depression with each onset of menstruation.
At the end of that road, after the grieving process, women can find peace in a place of acceptance, through the grace of Jesus Christ. They discover that God has a different plan for their life. That just as Jesus is our Great Redeemer, He can redeem even the heartache of infertility and use it for our good and His glory. They discover that Christ is our hope.
Women Who Have Never Married
Our culture today is seeing more and more women who have never married. While taboos have existed in past generations with labels such as "old maid," single women today have become main stream. Many of these women, particularly women with traditional family values,
have not desired to raise children without a father in the home. They have decided that if marriage was not God's will for them then neither was having a child.
Mature adult women who have never married have found a place of fulfillment and completion in their relationship with Christ. Many have discovered that the husband they longed for was in reality a longing for a deeper, more loving relationship with Christ. They have discovered that a relationship with Christ can fulfill every longing and every need to a fuller extent than could even marriage. They, too, have discovered that Christ, our Redeemer, has a purpose in singleness and can fulfill the single woman to live an abundant life beyond a husband and children.
Women Who Have Chosen Childlessness
Increasing numbers of women are choosing to debunk societal expectations and remain childless. Some have prioritized career over family life; some have chosen childlessness for financial reasons; some just simply did not want the responsibility or the constraints that children cause; others have convictions about overpopulation and its strain on the environment.
Women Separated from Family
Oftentimes, women are simply separated from family. Some are divorced and may have children, but separated emotionally. Some women survive the death of their children or spouse.
Still other women are separated from family geographically. They may have children who can give only limited care and support from across the miles.
Whatever the reasons women do not have family support, LifeVine desires to provide the care and support they need in their senior years. Read more about the LifeVine Mission.
